Partner Event: Transitioning Teacher Career Workshop (virtual event)

  • 07/14/2022
  • 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Virtual - link will be provided after registration

According to the US Bureau of Labor over half a million educators quit their positions in March 2022. Thousands more are considering this summer or fall to transition from K-12 classrooms into a role such as Learning and Development in a non-instructional educational institution.

This workshop addresses the unique needs of these educators as they consider a career shift. Participants will review their resume to reflect on their transferable skills, and what key adaptations are needed to successfully position their resume to align with the key components of the job description as they job search for their new role.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Create an action-plan to write a winning resume that is fitted for a non-instructional educational role:
  • Conduct an analysis of the job description: position requirements and qualifications to determine if a close match for response.
  • Identify job-specific skills that are transferable to increase competitiveness in the job application process.
  • Look for words, terms and concepts that are important to the hiring manager.
  • Translate education-related terms to terms used in a non-instructional educational institution.
